FAQ's
What is different about DBT?
DBT is a synthesis of western, change focused therapy (like traditional CBT), & eastern acceptance & mindfulness based therapies.
We are always working to balance acceptance & change skills in DBT, to create a more balanced life.
What ways can I do DBT?
We offer a range of different treatment modes, including 1:1 sessions, group & online programs. We can recommend a treatment plan that works best for you, depending on your needs & wants.
I want to do a group program but I'm nervous about groups...
The group element of our DBT group program is not a 'sit in a circle & share' kind of group!
It's an education style group, so the focus is on learning new skills & concepts. You don't have to share anything you don't want to. And we never do ice-breakers!!!
I've tried therapy before & it didn't work...
Most of our clients have tried other forms of treatment before coming to DBT. Some have had felt some benefits, but not enough. We work differently & DBT has been shown to be more effective at developing emotion regulation skills than other forms of therapy.
How old do I have to be to do your programs?
We accept clients aged 13-years & older. We may consider 12-year-olds under special circumstances.
How much do your programs cost?
We have different price points for our programs.
Our 1:1 sessions vary depending on clinician, but range from $150- $260/ session.
The DBT Group Only Program is from $125/ wk.
Our Full DBT Program is price on application & varies depending on your clinician.
Can I use my private health insurance?
Private health funds & levels of cover vary considerably, so you need to check with your fund specifically about what may be covered.
You cannot claim Medicare rebates & private health fund rebates at the same time.
Can I get Medicare rebates for your programs?
Medicare rebates are available for our group programs, with a GP referral. Rebates for individual sessions are available with some of our clinicians, however we price our services so your out-of-pocket expenses are similar after rebates.
