DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY
DBT is a well researched, empirically supported program for the treatment of emotion regulation difficulties and BPD.
DBT is a cognitive-behavioural based therapy, with the addition of mindfulness and acceptance based philosophies.
There is a focus on synthesising different, often conflicting perspectives (dialectics) - primary of those is accepting who you are but also striving for change.
DBT is considered the gold-standard treatment for borderline personality disorder & self harm.
DBT is practical & skills-based- no 'airy fairy' therapy here!
DBT is especially great for those who may have tried other forms of treatment before without much improvement- DBT is often the difference needed to make real, long-term change.
