WHY
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY?
DBT is a well researched, empirically supported program for the treatment of emotion regulation difficulties and BPD. DBT is a cognitive-behavioural based therapy, with the addition of mindfulness and acceptance based philosophies. There is a focus on synthesising different, often conflicting perspectives (dialectics) - primary of those is accepting who you are but also striving for change. DBT is considered the gold-standard treatment for borderline personality disorder & self harm. DBT is practical & skills-based- no 'airy fairy' therapy here! DBT is especially great for those who may have tried other forms of treatment before without much improvement- DBT is often the difference needed to make real, long-term change.

I've tried therapy before and it didn't work...Most of our clients have tried other forms of treatment before coming to DBT. Some have had felt some benefits, but not enough. We work differently & DBT has been shown to be more effective at developing emotion regulation skills than other forms of therapy.

I want to do a group program but I'm nervous about groups..The group element of our DBT group program is not a 'sit in a circle & share' kind of group! It's an education-style group, so the focus is on learning new skills & concepts. You don't have to share anything you don't want to. And we never do ice-breakers!!!
